My hope in the conversation happening at the moment about abortion is that we contemplate whether or not the standard practice of the Pro-life movement is distinctively Christian and consistent with a Gospel-centered approach to ending this evil. Our interview with the Vice-president of National Right to Life revealed that 1) He was unwilling to call it murder, 2) He has no plans on fighting for legislation that would call it murder, 3) He explicitly said that we should not use distinctly Christian language nor should we say ‘repent and believe’ in the fight, and 4) He is unwilling to agree with legislation that would end the slaughter of babies today if there is a risk that the higher courts will have a different opinion and attempt to strike it down.
He is a sweet man. He wants abortion ended. However, his being a sweet and precious man who wants abortion ended doesn’t mean that we can’t call down inconsistency. I am personally grateful (as I told him) that he has fought for the unborn. But, brothers and sisters, please receive this with the humility and respect that I have while I write this:
60, 000, 000 dead babies is not a success by any stretch of the imagination. We need a Gospel-centered, distinctively Christian approach to this that treats it like it really is and calls it what God does. I know this conversation is hard and uncomfortable. I feel that. I really do.
Little babies made in the Image of God are being destroyed in our neighborhoods. Three-thousand a day, every day, until it is stopped. That’s 9-11 every day. Only the Gospel will change this. That means we have to tell the truth about it while fighting against it. That is going to carry a lot of suffering and persecution with it. I can promise you, when you hold these babies saved just moments from death at an abortion mill, it will change you forever. It is no longer theory. It’s as real as the flesh on your bones.
overturn RvWade repeal the freedom of access to clinics law and we can do the rest.
