PAC CORE VALUES of Constitutionalism, Free Markets, Limited Government & Fiscal Responsibility to take back seat to $50K per table Gala.
Texas Patriots PAC based here in Montgomery County has announced a political shin dig with a rank and file patriot price tag of only $5000.00 per table? The MAIN EVENT is touted as “CELEBRATING THE AMERICAN DREAM! An evening with Donald Trump and Mattress Mack” What are they thinking? On one hand the extol the virtues of free markets – “The Founders believed that personal and economic freedom go together, as do we. Our current government’s interference distorts the free market and inhibits the pursuit of individual and economic liberty; therefore, we demand limited government.” and have recently squared off against “wasteful spending” in the proposed $350 Million bond election to be decided next month, specifically decrying the Woodlands parkway extension as “a gift, funded by the taxpayers, for developers”!
Too many mega-developers like Trump have achieved success by using and abusing the government’s ability to commandeer private property for purported “public use.” Invoking the Fifth Amendment takings clause, real estate moguls, parking garage builders, mall developers and sports palace architects have colluded with elected officials to pull off legalized theftin the name of reducing “blight.” Under eminent domain, the definition of “public purpose” has been stretched like Silly Putty to cover everything from roads and bridges to high-end retail stores, baseball stadiums and casinos.
How do they hope to rationalize that stance with a fat-cat soirée which features an “apprentice table” for a mere $5000 or the “Trump Table” for $50K? While they are pretending to fight off the establishment pork barrel bond election against much better funded and marketing savvy special interests they create a dilettantes diversion of political orgasmic proportions to drain of any funds that would be better spent defeating the bond election. They don’t call Donald Trump the Emperor Of Eminent Domain for nothing. Just ask Michele Malkin. “While casting himself as America’s new constitutional savior, Trump has shown reckless disregard for fundamental private property rights.”
