Transcript of Commissioners Court audio sheds light on Road Bond Prayer
County Citizen has produced a transcript of the prayer offered at the beginning of Montgomery County Commissioners Court meeting of April 6, 2015 where it was alleged and reported by local news that a volunteer prayer described those who opposed the upcoming $350 Million road bond election as “tools of Satan”.
Our best effort of transcribing the offending prayer reveals that may not have been the case. Instead the prayer clearly invites God to cover the Bond election in “the blood” ( of Jesus). The prayer also mentions “Satan’s Users”.
Christs blood was shed at his crucifixion more than 2000 years ago as the culminating act of redemption of mankind who is lost in sin.Thus the shedding of his blood and covering is exclusively reserved for mankind alone and is not to be used or misused in saving objects or human creations such as road bond elections.

Alright. Let’s bring the court to order and get everything started with our opening prayer. Does anyone would like to volunteer to give the prayer this morning?

God, Heavenly Father, we just come to you this morning. We just join our hearts and our hands as we look to you for the strength and the courage to go forward. Father, we just thank you for the reason for this season that you suffered and you bled and you died that we would have eternal life and life expectancy. And Father, as we lift up our leadership here in the county, we pray for the judge and the commissioners and we just pray your will and your way over their lives. Father, as we lift up this bond program to you, we just ask that you just cover it with the blood, Lord, and block the uh, Satan’s Users from blocking the uh, to tell them the transportation to go forward because this county needs it so desperately, Lord. And we just ask that you would just continue to cover our men and women that are in overseas in the military. Father, I just pray, as you cover them with the blood, that you’ll just bring them home safe and sound and just continue to cover our country, our state, and our county with blood and we just ask all this in Your name. Amen.
