A friend forwarded a republican newsletter to me because it had the very funny John Oliver piece on special districts, “did I see it yet?” I had posted it here already.
What caught my attention was the item under the heading SOMETHING LIBERTARIAN a so called Grassroots Leadership Academy offered by AFP. I don’t know that they qualify as a libertarian organization or not but I do have some experience with this organization and offer this caution.
I worked with AFP in 2009-2010 flying their flag for them in Montgomery County and received some praise for challenging the crony developer controlled Woodlands Road Utility District. I was chosen as AFP Watchdog of the Year in 2010. Once the powers be orchestrated the false prosecution and conviction of RUD challengers, that is, the same powers AFP craves access to and lacks the guts to call out RUD voters were left twisting in the wind by AFP. “It’s not our mission” was one pathetic explanation from the Texas AFP leadership who even cited the untrue prosecutors narrative the we “did not even stay at the hotel” as an excuse to dismiss me.
To this day AFP Texas has been silent on the whole RENT-A-VOTER issue.
AFP is not a credible organization that is qualified to train anyone on anything except perhaps how to behave in a completely gutless manner.

American’s For Prosperity Foundation – Texas is hosting a Grassroots Leadership Academy (GLA) in Houston!
Starting on 4/5/16 we will begin an awesome 6 week program that teaches activists what, how, and why to be effective grassroots leaders in their communities. We will meet at 7 pm on Tuesday nights for 6 weeks. Its completely free for participants, but a very expensive program for us to host. We will bring in a different distinguished speaker each week as well as provide food and all the materials you need for the class.
We also ask that participants contribute one hour of community service per lesson (so 6 hours total) that we can be very flexible with. Phone banking and block walking are the most popular ways to get hours

What do you mean ” somebody” ? how many Adrian Heaths are there that run this site and were AFP 2010 watchdog of the year? Also, don’t be so fast? if we wait any longer for patiots to advocate for us our 3 year sentence for Greg Abbott engineered false conviction for “illegal voting” will be over. Are you ready to help us out? By the way- you were pretty fast at slinging an insult at me.
Someone named Adrian Heath wrote this article but was not brave enough to sign it. As for the statement “AFP” is not a credible organization… The reader should know that all organizations are essentially the personalities of the people that run them. The people running these organizations change, and the direction the organization takes change as well. Where as 6 years ago, the AFP( in my opinion ) was a spineless republican cheerleading organization; today the AFP could be headed by people with the grit and tenacity to get the job done. This article could have easily been written to say “Glad AFP is getting their act together. ” Adrian, don’t be so fast to dismiss organizations that have let you down in the past.
