Kelli Cook’s comments begin at the 3 Min mark. The agenda item said “CONSIDER, DISCUSS AND APPROVE APPOINTMENT TO THE LONE STAR GROUNDWATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT BOARD” but the approval did not take place.
Only the government can raise the price of water when there’s too much of it, AND when there’s too little.
Economist Milton Friedman once said, “If you put the government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years, there’d be a shortage of sand.”
Despite record amounts of rain for the last two years, water rates continue to rise dramatically.
Appointed local water board members jacked up the price of water because of the record rainfall of 2015, which decreased demand and revenues.
They said the rate increase was absolutely necessary to service the project’s debt.
Yes — the abundance of water made your water bill skyrocket!
This rogue water board decided Montgomery County residents needed to decrease groundwater consumption by 30%.
They created a water crisis where there wasn’t one.
They’re using “junk science” to scare you into thinking the aquifers are going to run dry. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Please sign your petition opposing the water hikes.
Some cities are fighting back against this water rate hike and refusing to pay the increase. This fight will eventually be settled in the courts.
In the meantime, our county commissioners are going to reappoint their handpicked crony as president of the Lone Star Ground Water Conservation District.
This board member sold them on the idea that there is a water crisis and mismanaged funds, which enslaved us to their debt and caused rate hikes during heavy rainfall periods.
They expect you to pay for their artificial water use reduction scheme.
We must fight this money grab — it has a terrible impact on homeowners, businesses, and members of the community living on fixed incomes.
You and I must take action now to force our county commissioners to stop the unaccountable water boards.
Failure to act will only encourage them to continue this scheme and send your money down the drain!
