RERfirst – BREAKING NEWS: JOE STRAUS WINS “LOYALTY VOTE”. RE-ELECTED SPEAKER OF TEXAS HOUSE, 150-0, VIA RECORD VOTE!
In an unprecedented demonstration to brazen power, Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus has been re-elected for a historical fifth term by the 85th Texas House. He launched a “loyalty vote”, as was first reported as being possible by EmpowerTexans.
No other names were entered into nomination for the position. Nevertheless, by the rules of the House, five reps petitioned the House to have a recorded vote – the green lights and red lights – to see who would dare oppose Straus.
No state representatives pushed the red light. The recorded vote was 150 to 0 in favor of Straus’ re-election.
