No surprise here…. More taxpayer funds for the security burdens of the developer and its tenants.
Alpha & Omega to donate? The whole contract is a donation of taxpayer funds!
Township approves A&O proposal, asks staff for crime data

In a 4-1 vote, The Woodlands Township Board of Directors approved a $2 million amended proposal with Alpha & Omega Services for mounted patrol in The Woodlands.
Board member Gordy Bunch was the nay vote, noting while he supports having Alpha & Omega services in Town Center, he voted against the action based on the fact he was unable to get specific crime data for the different villages in the community.
Board members Jeff Long and Peggy Hausman were absent.
“The Town Center has three times the activity than the area we are expanding to,” Bunch said. “The area still has the highest crime rate, so we should be allocating resources where the need is.
“This contract doesn’t need to be renewed until January. Why would we not wait on the additional analysis … to make sure we are allocating resources in the right areas? We have time.”
The board asked the staff to gather additional crime data from various parts of The Woodlands to bring back at a later meeting for review before executing the five-year service agreement with Alpha & Omega Services, which ends at the end of the year.
According to information from the township, the contract will include the current basic levels of service, 808 weekly mounted patrol hours, as well as 40 additional weekly hours for support services. The proposal also includes coverage of current patrol locations, The Woodlands Mall, Market Street, Waterway Square, Pinecroft Centers I and II, Hughes Landing and commercial areas along the Texas 242 and Interstate 45 corridors.
Alpha & Omega, according to the proposal, will donate up to 200 hours of mounted security annually for township-sponsored public events.
Alpha & Omega has been providing mounted patrol services for The Woodlands since 1994.
