ONE TIME RBC CAPITAL MARKETS ADVISER WHISTLE BLOWER
PREVIOUSLY ADVISER TO MONTGOMERY COUNTY
Adrian Heath : September 24, 2015
Given all the bad news surrounding BONDS and financial matters in Montgomery County here is a surprising and troubling story with a fairly happy ending.

Ryan O’Hara, formerly director RBC Capital Markets has just emerged from a harrowing encounter with powerful special interest that hoped to hurt him. O’Hara has served as financial advisor to Montgomery County commissioners under the RBC flag as well as BOSC and Frost bank. RBC Capital Markets has been financial adviser to just about every sizable political subdivision in the county at one time or another. Call your elected official and tell the put a stop to that imediately.
An article that just showed up on LinkedIn explains a recent victory for O’Hara –
“Craig Rathmann and his company filed suit against O’Hara in retaliation for O’Hara’s participation in the Texas Attorney General’s investigation of certain anticompetitive activities affecting Houston-area MUDs. For ten years, Rathmann and RBC Capital Markets, LLC operated under an agreement that restricted competition as to certain MUDs and that required Rathmann to use best efforts to obtain a 1.25% underwriter’s fee for RBC. O’Hara’s analyses showed that Rathmann’s MUD clients—and ultimately taxpayers—were paying higher fees than other financial advisors’ clients. A Texas AG investigation of the issue resulted in nearly $1,000,000 in restitution by RBC to affected MUDs and payment by Rathmann of $450,000 in lieu of civil penalties.”
That’s right, while County Citizen and others have railed against road builders, bond salesmen, bond attorneys, engineering firms and more for feeding at the trough of the municipal bond food chain at taxpayers expense, Ryan O’Hara has emerged from inside the system with the determination to stand for what is right. Brave and noble actions from O’Hara. Thank you to Ryan O’Hara for blowing the whistle on “anticompetitve activities” better know as CORRUPTION and PLUNDER. Also thank you to his current and new employer Hutchinson, Shockey, Erley & Co. for placing principle over power by doing what other crony outfits may decline, that is to add a staunch advocate for truth to their team. O’Hara was willing to pay the personal price on integrity, the kind of person extolled in Psalm 15 “He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.”
