Montgomery County Tea Party Announces Recommendations for November 2015 Election

Montgomery County, Texas – October 6, 2015 – The membership and the Board of Directors of the Montgomery County Tea Party (MCTP, mcteaparty.org) are pleased to announce the unanimous approval* of the following MCTP Vetting Committee recommendations regarding the November 2015 election in Montgomery County:

The Woodlands Township Board of Directors

  • Position 5 – MCTP Endorses John McMullan
  • Position 6 – MCTP Endorses Matthew Burton
  • Position 7 – MCTP Endorses Laura Fillault

State Constitutional Amendment Propositions

  • Proposition 1: Increase Homestead ExemptionEndorse
  • Proposition 2: Exempt Surviving Spouses of deceased 100% disabled veterans from property taxes – Endorse
  • Proposition 3: Allows state elected officials other than the Governor and Lt. Governor to live outside of Austin – Endorse
  • Proposition 4: Raffles by Sports Team Charities – Expands (e.g., 50/50) raffles to charitable arm of pro sports teams – Neutral
  • Proposition 5: County to Build/Maintain Private Roads – allows counties < 7,500 residents to build/maintain private roads – Oppose
  • Proposition 6: Recognizes right to hunt and fish subject to conservation lawsOppose
  • Proposition 7: Dedicates a portion of sales tax to highway fundEndorse

Conroe Independent School District (CISD) Bond – $487 M for 5 new schools, renovations, technology, and safety – Oppose

Magnolia Independent School District (MISD) Bonds

  • Proposition 1 – $84 million: 1.5 new schools, renovations, 10 new buses – Neutral
  • Proposition 2 – $8 million for conference center and turf – Oppose

Montgomery County Revised Road Bond – $280 M for roads – Neutral
