**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**
Formation of a Tea Party PAC in Montgomery County
Montgomery County, Texas – January 14, 2016 – A group of concerned citizens have formed a new political action committee (PAC) called the Montgomery County Tea Party PAC (MCTP PAC). The founding members of the MCTP PAC have all been heavily involved with the Montgomery County Tea Party (MCTP), but they have been frustrated with the financing limitations imposed on its political involvement due to the organization’s structure. The structure of the new organization will allow it to overcome these limitations.
The MCTP PAC is structured as a joint state/federal “Super PAC.” Whereas the current Montgomery County Tea Party could only spend a small portion of its budget on campaign related activities, the new MCTP PAC is able to accept contributions for the express purpose of campaigning. Ken Vaughn, treasurer of the new PAC, said, “this will allow us to fund a new, powerful tea party voice in the county.”
Pat Tibbs, one of the “decision makers” identified for the MCTP PAC, indicated that the PAC is already in the process of raising money and expects to be engaged in the March 1 primary season.
The MCTP PAC is a joint federal/state super PAC and is a separate legal entity from the MCTP.
