Corpus Christi mayor: Cross at center of lawsuit is personal
Expect more of this if you do not fight back.
At the intersection of Church and State Streets in Salem, Oregon.
Mayor Nelda Martinez’s late father dreamed that one day a cross would stand at the helm of the Corpus Christi Bay.
Her hope to see her father’s dream come true was renewed a few months ago when pastor Rick Milby with Abundant Life Fellowship told her of plans his church had to build the tallest cross in the Western Hemisphere along Interstate 37.
Now, a San Antonio man is suing the pastor and asking a court to admonish Martinez, among others. In his lawsuit, Patrick Greene accuses Milby of violating state law when he invited the mayor and council leaders to the groundbreaking. Milby did not return calls to the church Tuesday and Wednesday seeking comment.
