HEARST BUYS COURIER / VILLAGER HCN

This just in , thanks to Paul Lazzaro –

NEWS TIP: The Houston Chronicle (Hearst) has purchased the Houston Community Newspaper chain effective today. That includes our Villager and Courier and a couple of dozen Houston area community newspapers. Some people have been let go and others retained. Apparently mostly office staff is gone. Three ad people retained, but Sharon Tarasiewicz in ad sales, has opted not to make the transition. Villager physical office shut down. Survivors will work out of Chronicle office in The Woodlands. I understand editorial people have been retained. Stay tuned because this is huge in media and advertising circles.
