THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX, May 9, 2015 –STATEMENT BY GORDY BUNCH ON BEHALF OF THE CITIZENS GROUP THAT SUCCESSFULLY CAMPAIGNED IN OPPOSITON TO $350M ROAD BONDS:
In the greatest of American traditions, the citizens of Montgomery County have spoken. What was first presented to voters as a proposal that would improve traffic without raising taxes disintegrated under the weight of public scrutiny. It is time for us to demand a better bond package for November. A road bond without extending Woodlands Parkway, no maintenance projects, and one that addresses our near term immediate needs.
It is time for our elected officials to act on the will of the people. They work for us and we expect them to LISTEN!
Thank you to the 5,000 citizens who signed our petition, volunteered, voted, shared, posted, tweeted, called and walked to help our cause.
A special acknowledgment to our Woodlands Residents for making history by turning out the most votes in any May election in our 40 year history!
You are all awesome and I greatly appreciate all the support. We couldn’t have done this without you. We truly can affect change if we show up, stand up and demand better out of our government.
County officials need to consult professional transportation experts, eliminate Woodlands Parkway from the plan, delete maintenance projects, and deliver near-term immediate needs planned in a county-wide mobility study for reconsideration by voters. I thank God for giving us a country where we can express our opinions, have meaningful debate, and vote our convictions.
