Destruction of Special Education Records – Montgomery ISD

Montgomery Independent School District will be destroying special education records for students that were served in the special education program, have graduated, or have reached the age of twenty-two prior to September 1, 2009.

These records may include referral, assessment and re-evaluation reports, enrollment and eligibility forms, admission, review and dismissal (ARD) and transition planning committee documentation, individual educational (IEP) and transition (ITP) plans, parental consent forms for testing and placement, and other records of services required under state and federal regulations.

Because this information may be needed in the future for other purposes, such as social security benefits, parents or adult children may request copies of these records before destruction. If needed, please contact:

Written request must be received by Montgomery ISD prior to March 6, 2015. These records will be destroyed after March 13, 2015.

This district continues to maintain academic achievement records (transcript) with the student’s name, last known address, social security number, grades, attendance record, classes attended, grade level completed, and year completed.
