Campaign for Liberty launches petition to deny Montgomery County Commissioners ludicrous pay raise.
No Pay Raise for Montgomery County Politicians!
Whereas: Montgomery County Commissioners are currently the highest paid commissioners in Texas of similar size counties, and
Whereas: The average income of a Montgomery County citizen is one fifth of what the county commissioners get paid, and
Whereas: Many residents are losing their jobs or are underemployed due to the sudden downturn in the oil and gas industry, and
Whereas: These pay raises would be paid for with hard earned tax dollars which should be spent responsibly, and
Whereas: It is irresponsible for the commissioners court to vote themselves a pay raise when the county is a half-billion dollars in debt.
Therefore, Be it Resolved, that we the undersigned, demand the county commissioners remove the County Judge and all Commissioner’s pay raises from the 2015/2016 budget.
