TOWNSHIP TO EXPAND LOSING TRANSPORTATION DEPT

DOUBLE DOWN

Success Breeds Success as the overused motivational slogan says. And apparently the Woodlands Township is ready to double down on transportation losses and declining ridership by expanding their transportation brain trust. A Township employment posting here calls for  a Director of Transportation and Infrastructure Services.

The advertisement explains “the Township is a special purpose district, not a city that acts as the governmental service provider for the community.” sic.

Among the qualification deemed necessary by someone,  is – “experience in transportation and infrastructure services such as signage, construction projects and other matters where the Township has an interest but does not have direct responsibility.” sic.

KEEN BUSINESS SENSE

The ad cunningly omits that the candidate will undoubtedly be the future scapegoat for   impending economic failure of Township transportation plans but stipulates  “The future Director of Transportation and Infrastructure Services will possess excellent leadership skills, a keen business sense and be an innovative, dynamic, flexible problem-solver who values teamwork, strategic thinking and a high-performance culture resulting in high quality service.  The candidate will provide direction, management, planning and oversight of the Township’s transportation plans, projects, programs, services and facilities.”

Lets pity the successful candidate with actual keen business sense, That person , assuming a modicum of personal integrity will join the “team” and soon recommend abandoning a doomed program and advise against throwing good money after bad into the ever expanding  economic blowhole known as the Woodlands Express.

Soon after explaining this sound proposal the candidate will be offered voluntary resignation with a small severance package and the public will be told the candidate left to pursue other opportunities.

The only exception to this is that lacking  personal integrity the candidate will be over-endowed in the “strategic thinker” department and realize that its in his interest to recast the mission of Woodlands Express to combine the bus fleet with the Alpha and Omega Mounted Patrol arguing that horse drawn buses are not harmful to the environment and ad to the ambiance of the Town Center.
