BOLD REFORMER YOLLICK JOINS RACE FOR 9th DISTRICT COURT

Conroe, Texas, December 14 –

Longtime Montgomery County attorney Eric Yollick announced his candidacy for District Judge of the 9th District Court, in the March 1, 2016 Primary Election, and explained, “I want to work to make Texas Courthouses great again.  We need judges who follow the law, won’t play courtroom politics, and will move criminal, civil, and family dockets swiftly to keep taxpayers’ costs for operating our County government as low as possible.”  Yollick refers to himself as a “constitutional conservative” and would strive to strictly construe statutes while offering a friendly legal environment for law enforcement officials and others involved in the courtroom.    Yollick reformed the Montgomery County Hospital District as a board of directors member from 2003 to 2006 and won a county-wide election in 2004.  He resigned from MCHD’s board immediately after the board meeting in August, 2006, when MCHD passed its lowest tax rate in many years.  “I got the job done and there was no reason to linger in that government position.”

Yollick is 54, was born in Dallas and has lived in The Woodlands for 23 years with his wife of 30 years and son.  He graduated from St. Mark’s High School in Dallas and graduated from Princeton University, summa    cum    laude, in 1983.  He received his law degree from SMU School of Law in 1989 and has practiced law ever since, concentrating on business and real estate litigation, general civil practice, and mediation of probate matters.  Yollick is thoroughly familiar with the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, because he has provided support to attorneys on both sides of the docket in business-related criminal matters.  He is familiar with family law because he used to practice in that field and continues to do probate work that depends upon a knowledge of the Family Code.

Yollick has been Board Certified in Consumer and Commercial Law with the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1995.  He is licensed to practice in numerous state and federal courts in Texas, Colorado, and the District of Columbia, where he’s licensed.  Yollick served as President of the Montgomery County Bar Association from 2005 to 2006.  He has been actively involved in the State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association, and Woodlands Chamber of Commerce.  He is a member of numerous other bar associations and civic organizations.  He has raised almost $2 million to support cancer research through TeamYollick and other foundations.

Yollick is a barefoot runner who has completed four triathlons, five marathons, several half marathons, and numerous other footraces.  He has climbed two of the Earth’s Seven Summits, trained in Alaska, summited and trained on Mount Rainier several times, done a fair amount of ice climbing, and is on a quest to summit all fifty state high points.  Yollick believes that the 9th District Court should be a “general jurisdiction” court hearing cases in criminal, family, and civil matters, because, he explains, “that’s how the Legislature established the court.  As judge, I would work from 8 to 6, 5 days per week, 50 to 51 weeks per year.

I’d conduct at least one, if not more, jury trials every week.  I would keep the 9th Court’s criminal docket load but add family and civil cases in order to assist the other courts with their dockets.”    Yollick stated that moving convicted criminals, after fair and speedy trials, from the Montgomery County Jail into the Texas state prison system is a “high priority to reduce the cost burden to Montgomery County taxpayers.”  “I’ll win this election because I reflect the conservative principles of Montgomery County voters.  I’ve reformed a large government institution and I can get the job done again.”  Yollick and his wife attend church in The Woodlands.  He is an endowed life member of Conroe Lodge No. 748 and Montgomery Lodge No. 25, A.F. & A.M.  He is also a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Freemason and Master Craftsman.  For additional information, please contact Eric Yollick at 832.687.7980.
