The 2008 CISD bond election for $527 Million passed with a mere 2181 votes. Only 10437 CISD residents bothered to vote.
Now that Montgomery County residents have successfully rejected unnecessary borrowing for projects that can be completed on a properly managed “Pay-As-You-Go” basis. For such a plan to work required political will and determination. TEA PARTY and others who have just won a battle against huge and well funded opposition need to stick to their guns, and change their philosophy from lets get a “good” bond to “NO BONDS = NO BORROWING”.
This week Commissioners expressed reluctance to call another bond election in November. Why? CONROE ISD is why! They know they run the risk of defeat if two giant ill conceived DEBT proposals appear on the November Ballot together.
