From the Houston Chronicle –
“Montgomery County voters will go to the polls Nov. 3 to decide the fate of more than $2 billion in proposed school, road and utility projects needed to handle the area’s explosive growth.
Besides the road bonds, four of the county’s six school districts are seeking support for some $723 million in bond projects. This includes two proposals totaling $92 million for Magnolia ISD; $109 million for Willis ISD; $35 million for Cleveland ISD; and $487 million for Conroe ISD.
Four utility and municipal management districts are pushing for hundreds of millions in funding for water, sewer, drainage and recreation and road improvements.
* Conroe Municipal Management District No. 1 is asking voters to approve $250.8 million for water, sewer and drainage; $29.7 million for recreational facilities and $187.6 million for roads – along with the taxes to support it.
* Montgomery County Municipal Utility District No. 148 wants to issue $200 million in bonds for roads and $32 million for recreation and the taxes to sustain it.
* Montgomery County Municipal Utility District No. 24 is asking for $44 million for water, sewer and drainage.”
